Happy New Year from My Blue shed!
A new year is the perfect time for new ideas and projects, for some reason we all start again after Christmas with refreshed enthusiasm, maybe it is the promise of Spring on the horizon, and the gradually lengthening days, putting away the decorations and having a good old tidy up. It is the perfect time to make plans, and I have lots!
This year is particularly exciting for me as I have my new website to promote and my online shop to stock up with all my handprinted products. I am busy ordering packaging, fabrics and inks and raring to go.
At the end of January I will be moving in to a larger studio, upstairs at Victoria Works Studios in Chalford which has been my home since September 2015. A larger space will enable my business to grow, with both my children now at Secondary, now is my time. I will be opening my studio on the first Sunday of every month from 11-4 beginning in March. Visitors will be able to come along for coffee and browse my products, discuss orders and see my working process. I am looking forward to meeting lots of new people, sharing ideas and inspiration. Several other artists will also open their studios so you will get a feel for what goes on at Victoria Works!
There are lots of workshops planned at the Studios this year (head over to www.victoriaworksstudios.co.uk and have a look) I will be teaching more ‘Lino Printing for beginners’ and also a new intermediate workshop for those who have done some lino printing before and want to take it a bit further. We are also doing an exciting lampshade making workshop where I will show you how to design and print your own fabric which we will then make into a lampshade with the help of tutor Alex Rowland from Tailor-Made Lampshades.
For two weekends in May we will be opening up for the hugely popular Select Festival Open Studio event which is organised by SIT (Stroud International Textiles) this runs alongside the SITE Festival all across the Stroud Valleys and is a great opportunity to have a nose into many studios in the area, meet the artists and buy directly from them. More information on this will follow soon.
Have a happy and creative 2017!
