May is the busiest time of year for me and My Blue Shed, the month when I join in with Open Studios. In my opinion it is the best month, there is so much to do in the garden and allotment, everything is fresh and vibrant and full of promise! this often feeds me with ideas and inspiration for my work. It is also the time when many artists and makers in the Stroud Valleys open up their studios for two weekends, offering visitors the chance to see the processes behind the work, chat to the artists and of course buy directly from them. It is the perfect opportunity for makers to network and showcase their work to a wide audience. The Select Trail is run by Stroud International Textiles and is part of the wider Select Festival which runs from 29th April to 28th May. The festival boasts a wealth of exhibitions, seminars and workshops. This year there are 38 artists opening their studios or collaborating in artist led exhibitions, including Textile students from Stroud College.
We are hoping to have over 1000 visitors to Victoria Works Studios across the two weekends, this gives me the perfect opportunity to introduce some new designs! In keeping with my passion for all things coastal, I will be displaying 5 new prints that will be available to order by the metre, or made up into cushions and lampshades. The prints include crabs, shells and a tile design to coordinate. I hope you like them!
Select Trail Open Studios are on 6th & 7th May and 13th & 14th May. All the information you need can be found in the free brochure copies of which are dotted around in shops/cafes/museums etc all over the Stroud Valleys. It can also be downloaded from www.sitselect.org
See you there!
